Six teams gathered for the first ever T10 charity cricket tournament on 9 September at the Fairlop fields in London.
The tournament started early at 10am, teams were divided into two groups with the top two from each group going into the semi-finals.
The final was between Challengers XI (London) and Team Inzy (Sheffield), it went down to the wire in which Challengers XI hit a boundary of the final bowl to be crowned winners of the tournament.
Majority of funds raised on the day were from the players, the donations raised will go towards Minhaj Welfare Foundation’s emergency efforts in providing clean water, food, shelter and medical assistance to the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
The Minhaj-ul-Quran London team supported by its various forums organised cake sales, refreshment, henna painting and even massages all in aid of Rohingya.
Muzzamil Rafiq, part of the T10 committee said: “It was an excellent day, there was some great cricket, everyone played in the true spirit of the game. There were even opportunities for women and children to get involved. Most importantly, we were able to raise a substantial amount for the people of Rohingya.”
