Minhaj Welfare Foundation’s statement to the Manchester attack

Minhaj Welfare Foundation (MWF) is deeply horrified and saddened to learn of last night’s terrorist attack in the Manchester Arena.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those who lost their lives or were injured and our deepest condolences with their families and loved ones.

MWF has been actively providing mechanisms for combating extremist ideologies with a counter narrative and a support program for victims of terrorism. MWF is deeply disturbed by the horrendous attack last night in Manchester and extends its full support for the victims of this attack.

MWF has recently launched a full time college in Manchester under the name of Minhaj College Manchester (MCM), as the first UK established college which is dedicated towards training British youth with a strong emphasis on integration, community cohesion, anti-extremism, deradicalization, Islamophobia and inter-faith relationships. MCM is the first Islamic college to offer ideological training to provide a counter-narrative to extremist ideologies in order to tackle radicalisation.

MCM extends its full support to provide conceptual clarity to anybody that maybe affected or confused by yesterday’s terrorist attack.

We would also like to applaud the prompt actions of our emergency services who have managed the incident so effectively and the resilient Manchester community coming out in support of the victims at the moment of the incident.

At times like this it becomes ever so more important to remember what we have in common and for our communities to work together and be united against hatred and division.
