The Minhaj Welfare Foundation team visited the Turkey/Syria border distributed food packages on 30 May 2016 till 2 June 2016.
The visit to the border was in aid of supporting the Syrian refugees after two successful fundraising events in Sheffield and Birmingham (April 2016), in which participants generously donated towards Ramadan food packages.
Over the three day visit, MWF with the help of its local team travelled to make-shift camps, schools, rehabilitation centres, temporary homes and personally delivered food items to Syrian refugees.
Each parcel had more than 40kg of food items; enough to support a family for the entire month of Ramadan. All together we supported 500 families, meaning a total of 2000 people. Our local partners took details of beneficiary heads of each family and helped to ensure that the most deserving people received the aid they were so desperately depending on.
Along with this, MWF also provided basic medical support within a number of rehabilitation centres across the region. Previously our team distributed food items to more than 300 families in February 2016.
No matter how great the support, we feel that even more needs to be done, at least 110,000 Syrian people are listed as needing immediate support. Minhaj Welfare has the capacity to support the people of Syria, please donate generously towards the campaign so we can continue to help those who are depending on us.
